摘要:The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a participant-driven, multicomponent nutrition education program on fruit and vegetable intake and behaviors. Fifty-seven African-American, food-insecure children participated. Fifty-four percent of the study participants were overweight or obese and an inverse relationship between fruit and vegetable intake and weight status was found. The primary barriers to fruit and vegetable intake identified were availability, not liking vegetables and fruit, and not feeling fruits and vegetables are important. Children completing the program designed based on the barriers identified by parents significantly increased their fruit and vegetable intake, self-efficacy and child-asking behavior
