After a brief period in private industry he joined DSTO in 1982. Since then he has worked mostly in the field of warheads and warhead effects. During his career he has been posted to Harry Diamond Laboratories (USA), British Aerospace Australia, and Office of Naval Research (USA). His research interests have expanded to include improvised explosives devices and robotics. He currently leads the Weapon Automation and Technology Group at DSTO.
