摘要:In this Winter 2012 issue, JHNA is pleased to publish linked technical studies on the paintings of Cornelis Engebrechtsz, Lucas van Leyden, and Aertgen van Leyden. These two articles, by Esther van Duijn and Jessica Roeders (jointly) and by Abbie Vandivere, resulted from research conducted for the University of Amsterdam’s Impact of Oil project. Michele Packer’s article, concerning the ways images of recently demolished seventeenth-century buildings served as collective memories, expands a paper that she presented at the last Historians of Netherlandish Art Conference in Amsterdam, held in May 2010. A short archival note by Gero Seelig on the purchase of Carel Fabritius’s Sentry rounds out our offerings. Please note that in addition to longer articles, JHNA has initiated a policy of encouraging shorter essays on archival discoveries (as in the current issue), iconographical issues, technical studies, and rediscovered works. Photo essays with commentary are also encouraged. We welcome your suggestions.
