摘要:JHNA is pleased to publish three articles on sixteenth-century art. The first, by Amy Orrock, investigatesa range of pedagogical texts offering fresh insights into the reception of Pieter Bruegel the Elder’s painting Children’s Games (1560). Margreet Wolters’s article demonstrates how Joachim Beuckelaer’s designs on paper worked in one continuous process toward his final paint stage, and also focuses on underdrawing as an important intermediary step. Alison Stewart’s essay explores the life of the Nuremberg artist Sebald Beham and the literature about this “godless painter” and print entrepreneur.
