摘要:This article describes a sta tistical study of students' beliefs aboutmath ematics. An instrumen t wa s developed from th e theoretical considerationsof views about math ematics and the components of beliefs in teachers-studentsinteractions. This instrumen t d istributed to two hundred and fifteen Fo rm 5students from three fully residential secondary schools in Peninsula Malaysia. Afacto r analysis of respondents identified fou r facto rs of students' beliefs aboutmath ematics. Eight of the items converged at the first factor which was recordedhighly on loading. Correlations indicated that stud ents tend to belief about th erole of teachers modestly commensurate with the beliefs about the usefulness o fmath ematics. The four factors recorded very high reliability of in ternalconsisten cies. With standing th e analysis done, this four-factor instrument is justa b eginning in inspiring the more relia ble and upgrad ed instrument
