摘要：This paper presents the findings of studies regarding the attitude of rural Malays in Peninsular Malaysia pertaining to the development of their idle agricultural land, in particular, the prospects of the entry of private developers. The findings point to an inconsistency in their attitude, in that, while concurring to the need of resolving the idle land problem, the Malays were not prepared to have non-Malay private developers undertaking the task. Further probing highlights the fact that behind this refusal was a desire to relegate the task to the Malay younger generation as such bequeathing would ensure the continuity of the Malay dominance in this country.
