摘要:Productive manpower is the essential factor for economic and social welfare of a nation. A Productive manpower is the optimum population with properly integrated of education and health. This paper examines the impact of decadal growth rate of population, per capita GDP, education and health on poverty rates. The researcher has employed the data of last three decades. The correlation and regression results show that the population, education and health make significant positive results on poverty. A one per cent fall in Decadal Growth rate of population reduces 1.78 per cent in Poverty. A one per cent rise in Per capita GDP reduces the poverty at 0.00024 per cent. A one per cent increase in literacy level reduces the poverty at 3.72 per cent. Similarly, a one per cent reduction in Infant Mortality Rate reduces the poverty with 2.21 percent. Therefore, Kerala’s population is said to be productive due to proper education and health empowerment. This productive manpower is one of the answers for why Kerala has achieved high social development without proper economic development.
