This article presents a part of the research conducted by the author for the preparation of the first volume of the critical edition of Titu Maiorescus Diary, which is written in Romanian, French, Italian, Latin etc. The difficulties encountered were not only the deciphering of the manuscript, but also the transferring of typical 19th century expressions into nowadays Romanian.
