摘要：The article reviews the religious identity conception, its origin, development and transformation in the con-temporary world. The authors define capabilities of the religious identity as a type of the general identity in the context of the axiological exploration of the reality. The range of problems regarding conceptualizationof the confessional identity is outlined. Basing upon the research of the current state of the Russian people'sreligiousness, it is emphasized the specificity of the religious and confessional identity of the Krasnodar region inhabitants
