摘要：THE his Discourse 011 veth hod, the first rule in seeking truth is never to accept anything unless it is presented clearly and distinctly without any reason or occasion for doubt. Further, even before Descartes, the Platonic conception of knowledge was linked with the very notions of infallibility and unchangeability. Indeed, a general rule for traditional philosophy has been as follows: iJ one can doubt the proposition "x is y," then, one cannot say that he has knowledge that "x is y."
