Three major national newspapers in the United States –The New YorkTimes,The Washington Post, andUSA Today– published articles on the event.The New York Times'1,575-word article appeared on page one of section A.The Washington Postpublished a 6,275-word feature story that appeared onpage one of the style section, andUSA Todaypublished the shortest story,463 words, that was featured in the Life section on page two. The three na-tional news networks,ABC, CBS, andNBCalso covered the event. Collegesand universities throughout the United States hold celebrations for a varietyof events that do not receive this kind of coverage.
