摘要：The present publication * represents the first serious effort by Hispanic historians and archaelogists of Antiquity to reflect jointly on questions of historiography. The novelty of this undertaking explains, precisely, the absence of a more concrete line of investigation or a more clearly defined problematic in this Congress. Moreover, the only criterion used for the arrangement of the papers is chronological. On the other hand, we find a great number of different approaches. The majority of them, analyse, above all, the work of national and local erudites and researchers in the context of the discipline itself or, at the most, within the ideological and political framework of the period in which thy wrote. However, if all this contributes to the variety and richness of focuses and points of view, it also creates certain difficulties when we come to extract the basic ideas of the theory and practice of historiography in Spain in the last three centuries.
