摘要：In recent times, the complexity of the situation being faced by the university has been beyond any doubt. In order to respond appropriately to the challenges of the knowledge society, the university must accomplish reforms initiated several decades ago; a deep and structural change in which the Bologna process is only one of the aspects at stake, but maybe the most striking. The recent phenomenon of ever accelerating change has underlined the necessity and urgency of the process and makes this kind of papers of special interest. This paper contributes to the reform’s understanding by highlighting some of the main aspects of its economic dimension at European level. In addition, and to balance the wider dissemination of the Bologna process, the features of such a reform concerning the university research model has been particularly considered
