摘要：The paper emphasizes the importance oflawforsociety'ssustainable development.The authors have identified four main functions of law in connection withsustainable development:regulatoryfunction,the function of governing the society,thefunction of defense andguaranteethe essential values ofhuman society,thefunction of institutionalization of thesocialand politicalorganization. In organization andfunctioning of a society, we have seen lawas an instrumentthat confersorder,discipline andit ensures safety andstabilityfor the general interest of community. The challenge for all societies is to create a system of governance that promotes a sustainable development.Principle 27 of Rio Declaration (1992) calls specifically for further development of international law in the field ofsustainable development
