摘要：Growth measurements of beech seedlings grown by intensive nursery ways (plugs) in comparison to common planting stock have been performed on the three experimental plots at elevation from 520 to 920 m above sea level. Stimulation effect of tube plastic shelters used as protection against deer browsing was also evaluated. Results show very good performance of beech plugs not only at lower elevation but also in mountains. Growth rate during two years after planting was even higher in comparison to common planting stock. Better growth of plugs in plastic shelters is obvious. Plugs are likely to be better physiologically acclimatized to stimulation (greenhouse) effect of plastic tubes. However, further long-term monitoring (minimally to the stage of established plantation) is needed to evaluate the experimental plantations growth.
