Este artículo propone una introducción al Teatro Comparado, disciplina de desarrollo relevante en los estudios teatrales en la Argentina y especialmente válida para los estudios de teatro latinoamericano a partir del concepto de «territorialidad». Se consideran las dos etapas fundamentales en la teorización de los estudios teatrales comparatistas, así como la Cartografía Teatral como coronamiento del estudio comparatista. El artículo formula luego la pregunta por el lugar del teatro latinoamericano en el canon occidental de las poéticas de dirección. Finalmente, analiza los principales lineamientos del «teatro de estados» del director Ricardo Bartís como una de las contribuciones a dicho canon.

This article offers an introduction to Comparative Theatre, a relevant development discipline in Theatre Studies in Argentina and especially valuable for the Latin American Theatre Studies, due to the concept of ‘territoriality’. The article considers the two fundamental stages in the conceptualization of Comparative Theatre Studies, and the Theater Cartography as the crowning point of comparative analysis. Then it is formulated the question about the place of Latin American Theatre in the Western canon of stage directing. Finally, it describes the main guidelines of the «teatro de estados» by director Ricardo Bartís as one of the contributions to this canon.
