  • 摘要:Undertakingdoctoralstudiescanbeasolitaryactivity.Professionaldoctoratesinspecificfields,particularlythosewithtaughtandpracticeelements,providestudentswithopportunitiesformutualsupportandencouragement.Relatedprofessionaldoctoratesarenowofferedbyseveralinstitutionsinthesamecountry,andinsomecasesbyinstitutionsinseveralcountries.Manyprofessionaldoctorateshaveaninternationalfocus,providingadditionalopportunitiesfordoctoralstudentstonetwork.Onesuchprogrammeisthedoctorateinpublichealth,nowofferedinEurope,NorthAmericaandAustralia.Thereisthusanopportunitytopromoteinternationalisationbysupportingstudentsondifferentprogrammesindifferentcountriestoexchangeinformation,experienceandinsight.TheInternationalNetworkforDoctoralTraininginHealthLeadership(NETDOC)hasbeenexploringwaysinwhichsuchnetworkingmightbefacilitated.Thisdiscussionpaperreportsprogresstodateandplanneddevelopments.StudentsfromtheUShavejoinedstudentsinLondonandParisinsharedactivities.Additionalmechanismsfornetworkingconsideredincludetheuseofestablishedsocialnetworkingservices,apre -existingdiscussionforum,annualface -to -facesymposiaandthecreationofabespokeonlinenetworkingforumforprofessionaldoctoratestudents.Theauthorswouldbeinterestedtohearaboutotherprofessionaldoctorateprogrammeswhereopportunitiesforinternationalnetworkingbystudentshavebeendeveloped.
