摘要:Gifted education has had a long history in the US and as a result its efficacy is often taken for granted. In this article, the most widely used definitions and assessments in gifted education will be reviewed. T he evidence for the most com mon educational provisions offered to the gifted ¨C acceleration and ability grouping ¨C as well as gifted education studies from the field of economics and the long-terms benefits of gifted education will be discussed. Finally, an analysis of the existing evidence and suggested future directions will be presented
