摘要:This paper proposes that the economic criteria of horizontal and vertical equity can be applied to Child Support and may be used as standards for evaluation of the Child Support formula of the Australian Child Support Scheme. Financial modelling is used to simulate the financial circumstances of separated parents. While some previous research published in Australia has analysed the financial circumstances of parents, financial modelling has been limited to, at most, a handful of particular circumstances (for example, Scott, 1989). The only previous attempt to model a broad range of situations is an unpublished work developed by the Department of Social Security. The Joint Select Committee on Certain Family Law Issues considered this model and called for the development of an alternative model (JSC, 1994). This challenge has not been taken up to date
