摘要：Research focused on quality and quantity of beech seedlings was conducted on the research plot near upper limit of the beech occurrence in the Krkonoše Mts. (1,070 m a.s.l.). In 2006, light conditions by method of fish-eye crown hemispherical photography were analyzed in the regular network. At the same positions, number of seedlings, their height and height increments were measured in the area of 1 square meter. One to three average sample seedlings (with roots) was removed from each position. Samples were analyzed in accordance with extended methodology of planting stock proving (Czech technical standard ČSN 48 2115). Relations between light characteristics and parameters of natural regeneration of beech are discussed; morphological parameters of sample trees are described. Potential of beech seedlings to be lifted and used for artificial regeneration is summarized.
