摘要：The main objective of silvicultural measures in the forests in the protective zone (first and second level) of water resources and reservoirs is stabilization of forest function fulfillment with accent on hydrologic and water management functions. Additionally, prevention of oversized litter accumulation in humus horizons under Norway spruce (monocultures of mixture with prevailing spruce) stands is demanded due to risk of possible contamination of these water resources by humic acids. Therefore, current status of quantity and quality of humus horizons under young (30 and 40-year-old) spruce stands was observed on two typical localities around the water reservoir Fláje in the Krušné hory Mts. We found that amount of dry mass in humus horizons under spruce stands increased together with age of stands. Observed amount of dry mass in horizons L + F + H (50 – 70 thousand kg per hectare) is comparable with the results from the stands at the same age on the other localities.
