  • 摘要:This paper analyses development of European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) young plantations aged 5–15 years, which were planted artificially in the areas of gaps (0.05–0.1 ha) and two different-sized clearings (0.2–0.3 ha – small clearing vs. more than 0.5 ha – middle clearing). Observed plots are situated in the Bohemian–Moravian Highland (Českomoravská vrchovina) on acidic sites of middle altitudinal zone, mostly in the Fageta piceoso-abietina sites. The research of beech young plantations consists of the following analyses: beech height growth, beech diameter growth and beech quality development. We used Statistica software tools for evaluation of quantitative parameters of the height and diameter growth, which showed significant differences in both growth characteristics (DBH and total height) in case of five-year-old plantations grown in all three treatments (gap, small clearing, middle clearing). The highest height and maximal DBH (at the age of 5 years) significantly showed beech individuals planted in 0.2–0.3 ha clearings. In the case of ten and fifteen-year-old individuals the situation changed. Maximal DBH in ten-year-old beech individuals was found in the middle clearings. The same situation, as for DBH and total height parameters, was monitored in fifteen-year-old beech plantations. In both cases, however, it does not appear significant. As for beech young plantations quality parameters, sequential decrease was observed, although the quality of beech individuals planted in gap and smaller clearing seems higher than in the third treatment.
