摘要：Introduction: Assessment o f kno wledge, attitude and practices on o rgan donation is essential for better underst anding o f the commu nity on d ifferent aspects of organ donatio n. It will furt her help us in impro ving health educat ion init iat ives thereby removing the hurdles behind o rgan donation. Purpose: To assess the k no wledge, at titude and practice about organ donatio n among co llege student s in Chennai, Tamil Nadu and to st udy the associat ion of sociodemographic factors with knowledge, att itude and pract ice of o rgan donation among college students in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Material and methods: A cross-sectional study was done among 440 student s aged 18 years and above in Hindustan Arts & Science College, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The students were int erviewed with a pretested questionnaire. The st udy was conducted bet ween January 2012 t o September 2012. Results: Though all t he particip ants were aware of the term organ do nat ion, knowledge abo ut different aspects was low. 86.1% were not aware of legislation. 75%of respondents were in favor of organ do nat ion, but only about 2% were regist ered fo r organ donation. Conclusion: This st udy imp lies the need for int ensified and su stained educat ion campaign t o raise the knowledge on o rgan do nation and its practice amo ng students
