摘要:The first meeting between Paul Morand and the Princess H¨¦l¨¨ne Soutzo was prompted by geopolitics. Ittook place in Paris, at a ceremony to celebrate Romania's entry into the war against Germany, in 1916.Morand's Journal d'un attach¨¦ d'ambassade(Paris, 1948) indicates how the couple's relationship wasrapidly formed. In 1924, H¨¦l¨¨ne would divorce her husband, a Romanian military attach¨¦, and, threeyears later, the Morands were married in the presence of the brilliant young diplomat's mentor, PhilippeBerthelot, and the Romanian ambassador. With this liaison, the relationship between Paul Morand andRomania, already considerable, took on an emotional charge. This is not without similarities with thecouple Aragon-Triolet, but in the case of the Morands we are dealing with a trajectory on the Far Right, with its own series of triumphs, illusions and catastrophes. Morand's period as Vichy ambassador toBucharest, in 1943-44, was the culmination of this long Franco-Romanian relationship
