摘要：Strong and vibrant small businessesare a key to a healthy economy. Smallbusinesses respond well to customerneeds and allow an economy to adapteasily to changing circumstance. Inaddition, small businesses provide amajor portion of employment in theU.S. economy: in 1994, businesseswith fewer than 100 employees pro-vided 55 percent of all jobs in thenation.1Of course, some states aremore dependent on small businessesthan others. In Colorado, for example,the 1994 share of small business jobswas 59.5 percent. Small business isalso important for job creation.Between 1992 and 1996, businesseswith fewer than 100 employees created65 percent of new jobs in Colorado.
