标题:How does tele-learning compare with other forms of education delivery? A systematic review of tele-learning educational outcomes for health professionals
摘要:Telecommuniciation technologies, including audio and videoconferencing facilities, afford geographically dispersed health profes-sionals the opportunity to connect and collabo-rate with others. Recognised for enablingtele-consultations and tele-collaborations betweenteams of health care professionals and theirpatients, these technologies are also well suitedto the delivery of distance learning programs, known as tele-learning. Aim: To determinewhether tele-learning delivery methods achieveequivalent learning outcomes when comparedwith traditional face-to-face education deliverymethods. Methods: A systematic literaturereview was commissioned by the NSW Ministryof Health to identify results relevant to programsapplying tele-learning delivery methods in theprovision of education to health professionals. Results: The review found few studies thatrigorously compared tele-learning with traditionalformats. There was some evidence, however, tosupport the premise that tele-learning modelsachieve comparable learning outcomes andthat participants are generally satisfied with andacceptingof this deliverymethod. Conclusion: Thereview illustrated that tele-learning technologiesnot only enable distance learning opportunities, but achieve comparable learning outcomes totraditional face-to-face models. More rigorousevidence is required to strengthen these findingsand should be the focus of future tele-learningresearch
