摘要:The paper studies how second degree price discrimination can be im-plemented in a duopoly with di.erentiated products. Two firms serve con-sumers having heterogeneous willingness to pay for the good, willingnessto pay being private knowledge. Consumers choose from a menu of tari.sand are subsequently billed according to the chosen tari.. Although prod-uct di.erentiation enables the firms to implement price discrimination, itis shown that competition has important e.ects on the tari. structure. Afully separating equilibrium can only be reached if the firm is allowed touse three part tari.s, i.e., quantity discounts conditional on a certain min-imum usage level, in addition to two part tari.s, i.e., quantity discountson the condition that a fixed fee is paid in advance
