摘要：Analyses of peasant consciousnessand political behaviour have dis-proportionately dwelt on violent massinsurrections. Indeed, they have occa-sioned grandiloquent historiographicaland sociological debates on the revolu-tionary potential of the peasantry andthe unraveling of the nexus betweenpeasant and nationalist revolutions.There have also been studies highlight-ing the everyday acts of apolitical peas-ant resistance - the so-called 'weaponsof the weak' approach. The advent ofsubaltern studies on the historiograph-ic scene has added another dimensionto the ongoing debate between the 'hero-ic' and 'everyday' of peasant resistance
