  • 摘要:Wireless sensor networks(WSN) have generated greatamong the researchers these daysbecause of their potential usage in a wide variety of applications. Sensor nodes are less expensive, portable devices with the limited processing power resources. Sensor nodes can be used to collect information from the environment, locally process this data and transmit the sensed data back to the user . One of the key issues that needto be addressed in the wireless sensor network field is how to constructenergy system. This is a criticalelement because the wireless sensor networkis a network made up of small batteries powered devices with a restrictedamount of energy resources within it. The purpose of the routing protocol is how to utilize energy efficiently and to extend network lifetime. Energy consumption is therefore one of most vital design issues in the WSN. Hierarchical routing protocols are best known in regard to the energy efficiency. By using a clustering technique hierarchical routing protocols greatly minimize energy consumed in collecting and disseminating data.Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH) is one of the fundamental protocols in this class.In this paper, wefocused mainly on residual energy usage and endto-end performance characteristics of both algorithms (LEACH & our MODIFIED LEACH algorithm).The simulation results demonstrated that modified algorithm is more effective in prolonging the network life time compared to LEACHin terms of which MODIFIED LEACHoutperform with nearly 2000 more rounds as compared to LEACH
