摘要：This paper provides an assessment of fi nancial stability issues in the EU candidate countries Croatia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Turkey. It examines potential sources of vulnerability from a macroeconomic perspective as well as fi nancial sector challenges, highlighting risks pertaining to each country individually or to the group as a whole. Since the beginning of the decade, Croatia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Turkey have experienced a signifi cant pace of fi nancial deepening, notwithstanding considerable differences in their level of economic development and the economic circumstances they are confronted with. While the expansion of the fi nancial sector in these countries can per se be regarded as benefi cial for their progress towards mature market economies, it also entails a range of risks, requiring adequate responses by policy-makers and supervisory authorities.
