摘要:Alaw firm consultant contacted me last year, offering to provide a review and assessment of my firm’s contractual agreements with LexisNexis and Westlaw and potentially produce significant savings for my firm. Although I eventually decided not to hire the consultant, his inquiry motivated me to survey colleagues and consultants about the consulting process, the players who currently provide such services to law libraries, and the pros and cons of hiring someone from outside the organization to provide consulting work. It also motivated me to expand my thinking about the ways in which I might use a consultant to examine my library and the information services provided.
