摘要：The purpose of this article is to critically present the idea of usury on money’s loan following the works made by Domingo de Soto in the XVI century. He was one of the most notables theologists and moralists disciples of Francisco de Vitoria and an outstanding teacher at the University of Salamanca. Soto knew the economics fi nancials methodes of the merchantes and bankers and reported the exorbitants interests that, in many cases, they required from his borrowers. I analize the Soto’s iusnaturalistic perspective and his doctrine on extrinsic titles, the damnum emergens and the lucrum cessans, and his special vision on the institution called Mons Pietatis. The productivity of money, the problems in return cases, the commutative justice and the legislation on usury, are also expounded.
