摘要：La siguiente investigación busca conocer el contexto legal al que se circunscribe la biblioteca pública en Latinoamérica y el Caribe, e identificar a través de la revisión documental cuáles de los elementos presentes en sus leyes podría servir de referencia en la generación de un marco legal para la biblioteca pública chilena. Por otra parte, busca conocer por medio de entrevistas, la percepción de bibliotecarios, personal y otros actores vinculados a la gestión de las bibliotecas públicas en relación a la necesidad de una ley para este tipo de bibliotecas.
其他摘要：The following research seeks to describe the legal context that is limited to the public library in Latin America and the Caribbean, and identify through the literature review which of the elements in their laws could serve as a reference in the creation of a legal framework for Chilean public library. On the other hand, seeks to know through interviews, the perception of librarians, staff and other stakeholders involved in the management of public libraries in relation to the need to these libraries.
