Al progresivo abandono del cen-tro, que ha dejado de desempe.ar unas funciones residenciales preeminentes, se une elde los barrios obreros surgidos al socaire del desarrollo industrial. Frente al vaciamien-to de estos sectores, cuyo menguante vecindario también es el que presenta las estruc-turas poblacionales más envejecidas, la ciudad se ha ido expandiendo al tiempo que haido aumentando el número de habitantes de los más recientes y alejados polígonos yurbanizaciones
