摘要:The International Labor organization (ILO) defines child labor as “all economic activities carried out by individuals less than fifteen years of age, regardless of their occupational status, except household work in parents homes” [1]. A significant proportion of children have been inducted as child labor from both developed and developing nations [2]. As per the World Health Organization estimates, globally almost 250 million children are engaged in child labor, of which 111 million have been forced to work in hazardous occupations [2]. Further, ILO has reported that more than ten million under-age children across the globe are employed as domestic workers in homes / dangerous circumstances [3]. Majority of the victims of child labor are from the poorest regions of the world such as Sub Saharan Africa and Asia Pacific region. These children ‐ ‐ are employed in multiple sectors including agriculture, street trading, domestic work, mining, fishing, etc [1,2]. To counter this issue, ILO in 2006 developed the Global Action Plan, a time-bound strategicframework to eliminate all forms of child labor by 2016. However, the outcome of this plan has not been very encouraging [1].
