Venezuela is a paradox for studies on urban violence: if, on the one hand, improvements in the social indices can be noted (in levels of inequality, the figures put the country alongside Uruguay), in relation with the levels of violence it is among the countries with highest murder rates in the region (such as El Salvador or Guatemala). In this context, facing the multiplication of violent deaths, whose victims inhabit above all the poorest neighborhoods, Caracas could be passing from a citizenship of fear to an (anti)citizenship of mourning.
