Con el desarrollo intensivo y extensivo del capitalismo surge una configuración geohistórica dotada de peculiaridades específicas y de movimientos propios, que puede denominarse globalismo. Se trata de una realidad múltiple presente en el ámbito trasnacional. No siempre anula lo preexistente, aunque altera su lugar y significado. Transforma el mapa del mundo, no solo en lo que puede representar la geografía o la historia, sino también las conciencias. Numerosos autores y textos contribuyen al esclarecimiento de diferentes aspectos del globalismo, y son tres las teorías que aparecen articuladas con más frecuencia: la sistémica, la weberiana y la marxista.

The intensive and extensive development of capitalism produces a geo-historical situation with particular characteristics and a particular dynamic, which can be called 'Globalism'. It is transnational and has multiple dimensions. It does not always eliminate the pre-existing, although it inevitably modifies its relations and meaning. The map of the world has been transformed, not only in terms of geography or history, but also at the level of consciousness. Numerous authors and texts have contributed to our understanding of globalism; but there are three dominant theoretical currents: the Systemic, the Weberian and the Marxist.
