El presente artículo analiza la política exterior brasileña en la gestión del presidente Lula, confrontando sus objetivos, prioridades e implementaciones con la orientada bajo el anterior gobierno y en etapas previas. Aunque no representa una ruptura o inflexión, y a pesar de heredar varios de sus objetivos e iniciativas más relevantes, la actual política exterior presenta rasgos distintivos asociados al reordenamiento e instrumentalización de sus objetivos y prioridades, así como a la asertividad en la promoción de los mismos.

This article examines Brazilian foreign policy under the Lula government, comparing its objectives, priorities and implementation with those of the previous administration and of earlier governments. Although there is no sign of rupture or even a clear change of course, and despite having inherited many of its most important objectives and initiatives, current foreign policy does exhibit distinctive characteristics related to a reordering of objectives and priorities, together with a new assertiveness in implementing them.
