El artículo efectúa un balance general sobre el estado de las relaciones entre la Unión Europea y el Caribe. Es momento de aprovechar las instancias de alto nivel abiertas en las cumbres UE-ALC, para tratar de redefinir los marcos estratégicos de los vínculos. El Caribe debería considerar con audacia e imaginación el estado de las relaciones y proponer cambios en los acuerdos económicos existentes que permitan mejores posibilidades de desarrollo.

This article offers a general balance of the state of relations between the EuropeanUnion and the Caribbean (Cariforum). It is the moment to take advantage of the Summit between the European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean, in order to attempt a redefinition of strategic aspects of the relationship. The Caribbean needs to be audacious and imaginative in proposing modifications in the current economic agreements, with a view to improving the prospects of greater future development.
