El final del conflicto armado en Colombia ya se vislumbra en el horizonte. Al complejo y difícil proceso de negociación con las AUC, se añade ahora el inicio de las conversaciones con el ELN. Más temprano que tarde, va a ocurrir lo mismo con las FARC. Tanto el tiempo internacional como el nacional corren a contravía de los actores armados no estatales. Las AUC, las FARC y el ELN están sufriendo, a su vez, un creciente aislamiento internacional, un progresivo repudio de la opinión pública interna y un dramático debilitamiento de su capacidad militar.

The end of the armed conflict in Colombia can be seen on the horizon. The complex and difficult negotiations with the Colombian United Self-Defense (AUC or paramilitaries) have recently been followed by the beginnings of conversations with the National Liberation Army (ELN, the smaller major guerrilla force). Sooner or later, the Colombian Revolutionary Armed Forces (FARC, the main guerrilla force) will follow suit. Historical forces, both international and national, are conspiring against the different non-State armed forces. The three groups are being submitted to increasing international pressure, a mounting repudiation amongst local public opinion while, at the same time, they are suffering from a dramatic undermining of their military capacity.
