摘要:Change in libraries is not new.Since the 1980s, the library litera-ture has been full of articles dis-cussing the impact of new technol-ogies such as automated integratedlibrary systems, non-mediated on-line bibliographic search systems,and the Internet and web on healthsciences libraries and health sci-ences librarian roles. The focus onnew technologies during this peri-od leads medical librarians awayfrom focusing on subject disciplineexpertise to emphasizing skills aseither systems experts or trainers,whether in large groups or one onone. Other developments in thefield included outreach beyondone's own institution, in reachwithin one's institution, and theemergence of the health scienceslibrarian as a deep generalist
