摘要:Question: How can an embedded researchinformationist add value to the scientific output ofresearch teams.Setting: The University of California–Los Angeles(UCLA) Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library is anacademic health sciences library serving the clinical,educational, and research needs of the UCLAcommunity.Methods: A grant from the National Library ofMedicine funded a librarian to join a UCLA researchteam as an informationist. The informationist meetsregularly with the research team and providesguidance related to data management, preservation,and other information-related issues.Main Results: Early results suggest that theinformationist's involvement has influenced theteam's data gathering, storage, and curation methods.The UCLA Library has also changed the librarian'stitle to research informationist to reflect the newactivities that she performs.Conclusion: The research informationist roleprovides an opportunity for librarians to becomeeffective members of research teams and improveresearch output
