摘要:A series of new 36 B-ring 4-alkoxychalcones have be en prepared and characterized on the basis of their spectral data and microanalysis. All the synthesized compounds were further screened for their cytotoxic activity against Artemia salina (Brine shrimp) and one tumor cell line, namely human Prostate Cancer (PC-3) cell line. The results of these studies revealed that 4-alkoxychacones (3c-7c, 11c, 13c) bearing 4-flouro group on ring A were highly toxic to brine shrimp with LD50values ranging from 0.003-0.4 μg/mL as compared to Etoposide (LD50 = 7.5 μg/mL) used as reference standard drug, whereas 4-alkoxychalcones (3c, 5b, 5c, 6b) exhibited moderate in vitro antiproliferative activity against PC-3 with the IC50values ranging from 20-40 μ M. The present series of 4-alkoxychalcones with high level of toxicity against Artemia salina and moderate antiproliferative activit y against PC-3 may prove to be potential cell selective antitumor agents
