摘要:Early last year we reported1on a study by Wakefield andcolleagues which suggested there may be an associationbetween measles containing vaccine, inflammatory boweldisease (IBD) and autism.2The evidence for eitherassociation was very weak1and the study was conductedon a highly selected group of subjects. Since then severalepidemiological investigations have found no evidence forany association with autism and/or IBD.5,6,7,8,9Also,specific virological assays in patients with IBD, theproposed aetiological link for autism aftermeasles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccination, have notdetected measles virus.3,4Following the publication of theWakefield study2however, there has been a measurabledecrease in the uptake of MMR in the United Kingdom(UK).
