摘要：On 19 and 20 December 2001, 3 notifications ofinfection with Salmonellasp. were received by theCommunicable Disease Control Branch for personswho had attended the same Christmas function on14 December. On 21 December 2001 a voluntaryservice organisation reported that 4 of about 14people attending a Christmas function hadreported illness with gastrointestinal disease. Thefunction was for staff of the organisation and wasself-catered in a private home, with each of theguests contributing food and drink items. Interviewof the hostess on 21 December 2001 establishedthat 20 people (17 adults and 3 children), includingthe 2 notified cases, had attended the function. Alist of persons attending the function was obtainedfrom the voluntary organisation and 6 wereinterviewed to compile a list of menu items. On 24December 2001 an additional case was notified.This case had also attended the function.Organisms from all cases were subsequently typedas SalmonellaTyphimurium phage type 135a
