摘要:When I was asked to say a few words to you about the Directory of Sources of Information in the District of Columbia, I did not at first see the connection between the subject matter of my remarks and the Medical Library Association, but after all, librarians are pretty much in the same positioni whether they work in a general library or in a special library devoted to the medical sciences. Your readers come to you for all kinds of inlformation, sometinmes very remotely connected with the medical sciences, and like faithful librarians you endeavor to meet all requirements. You have, therefore, a special interest in all methods of acquiring information and a particular interest in the tools of our profession, not the least important of which are the various guides in reference work. In compiling the Directory of Sources of information in the District of Columbia we are trying to create a tool of this kind along lines which I believe have not heretofore been attempted.
