摘要:The Medical Library Association was organized in 1898 under the name of the Association of Medical Librarians. Its objectives were two-fold: the fostering of medical libraries and the maintenance of an exchange for its members. For thirty years the principal work of the Association has been the carrying on of the Exchange which has never ceased although its method of operation has changed from time to time. The primary membership of the Association is one of Libraries as organizations. Each member library must have at least 500 volumes, regular hours and a Librarian. The present library membership is about 110 and is constantly increasing. All of the large libraries in the United States and Canada are members. The size ranges from 350,000 volumes to 700 volumes. There is also a supporting membership composed of physicians and other persons interested in medical libraries. The library members have full privileges of the Association, each one being entitled to two voting representatives. The present dues are $10 for libraries and $5 for individuals.
