摘要:Question: How may a man living outside of a city which has a medical library borrow a book, if there is no state provision for such loans? Answer: Almost any recent book may be borrowed from the Surgeon- Generals' Library through a responsible library. In California, by means of contributions from the state medical association, one library in the northern part of the state and one in the southern part takes care of the needs of the members of the association who are not close to medical libraries. Some libraries have corresponding members, who on the payment of a nominal fee may have the privilege of borrowing books. In most libraries, books are loaned to any doctor, with a follow-up letter, saying that the transportation is to be paid by the borrower.
