摘要：THE RESPONSIBILITIES of the librarian in the hospital medical library, like those of the administrator in any other library, fall into two divisions: first, those connected with organization, i.e., the selecting, assembling, and classifying of reference material, and, as time goes on, the eliminating of that which is no longer desirable; and secondly, those related to the loan and reference services which are offered the group served by the library. However, the time and effort which she will be able to expend upon these responsibilities will vary according to the requirements of the professional staff and the nice balance achieved between the various departments of the hospital.
