摘要:PERSONNEL administration in medical libraries does not differ widely in principle from personnel administration in other libraries, in government agencies, or in industry. The purpose in each is to get the job done,7 to supply the user, in this case the medical staff, with the information, service, or product needed as quickly and efficiently as possible. In medical libraries this result is no longer accomplished by the purely custodial job of keeping archives or a collection of literature accessible, but has gradually changed into the professional service of choosing books and periodicals, organizing these and thence making them available,'0 which is a service requiring a wide knowledge of medical and allied literature and specialized terminology. To provide such a service, not only the physical materials are necessary but also a competent staff working with maximum effectiveness, in complete harmony, and with an enthusiastic interest in the improvement of the library's service.
